LOVE SONGS TO FAILURE

This project plays with the idea of the commercially successful love song—that dominates in popular culture and persists on the heteronormative agenda—versus the lovesong that celebrates ‘failure’. The queer, generative ‘failure’ of abandoned infrastructure, romantic friendship and non-human kinship.

"Love Songs to Failure" remixes the video and audio memories of Sajgalik and Vroemen’s friendship in a sensorial performance using contact mics, loop pedals and synthesizers. Taking turns, they create live musical improvisations that supports the dance of their radical union

The experience seeks to challenge the conventions of normative romance and settler sexuality.

Video Documentation taken during the 13th edition of Studio XX's HTMlles festival, performance at Studio 303, November 3rd, 2018.
